Glasses, fitted on your face
A frame that looks right in a photograph and a frame that works on your face for ten hours a day are different things. The measuring and the adjusting are what separate them, and neither can be done online.

The measurements that actually matter
An online retailer asks for your prescription and your pupillary distance. That is enough for a weak single-vision lens and not much else.
- Pupillary distance, measured rather than estimated from a photograph
- Fitting height — critical for progressives, impossible to determine without the frame on your face
- Vertex distance, which changes effective lens power in stronger prescriptions
- Pantoscopic tilt and wrap, the angles that decide whether the lens optics line up with your eyes
- Bridge and temple fit — where the pinching, sliding and headaches come from
- Free adjustment for the life of the frame

The part that does the seeing
Frames get chosen first and matter least. The lens decides how well the glasses actually work.
Single vision
One power across the lens — for distance, for reading, or as a dedicated computer pair set for your actual screen distance. $99 for membership plan members.
Progressives
Distance, intermediate and near in one lens with no visible line. Fitting height and frame choice decide whether these work beautifully or drive you mad.
Coatings & treatments
Anti-reflective for night driving and screens, photochromic that darkens outdoors, polarized for glare, and impact-resistant materials for children and sport.

Three ways to pay for them
You will hear the number before you commit to anything, whichever route applies to you.
- VSP or EyeMed — your frame and lens allowance verified before you start choosing
- Medi-Cal — eyewear coverage for eligible patients
- Luminous Membership — frames from $89, single-vision lenses $99, and 10–15% off progressives and upgrades
Questions about glasses
Yes. Bring a current prescription from any optometrist or ophthalmologist and Freddy will take your measurements and fit the lenses. If it has expired you will need a current exam first.
Many single-vision prescriptions come back in one to two business days. Progressives, strong prescriptions and specialist coatings are surfaced to order and take longer.
We carry a range from value frames through to brand-name collections. Come and try them on — how a frame sits on your face matters considerably more than whose name is on the temple.
Bring them back and we will adjust them. Adjustment is part of the service and free for the life of the frame.
VSP and EyeMed both include a frame and lens allowance. Medi-Cal covers eyewear for eligible patients. Membership members get frames from $89 and single-vision lenses at $99.
For most people, yes — it is the single upgrade with the most noticeable effect, particularly for night driving and screen work.
