A small practice, on purpose
Luminous Optometry is intentionally personal: one doctor, one optician, and a thoughtfully managed schedule that gives each patient the time and attention they deserve.

Loi Thanh Mai, O.D.
Welcome to Luminous Optometry! I’m Dr. Mai, and I’m honored to be a part of your eye care journey. My passion for vision health began at UCLA, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Physiological Sciences. I then continued my education at Western University of Health Sciences, earning my Doctorate of Optometry and becoming certified in the treatment and management of ocular diseases.
Providing personalized, high-quality eye care is my priority. Whether you need a routine exam, specialty lenses, or management for an eye condition, my goal is to ensure you receive the best care in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Outside of the office, I love to travel—especially to Japan, a place that holds a special place in my heart. Most recently, my greatest adventure has been welcoming a newborn into my family, a journey that has been both exciting and rewarding.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you see the world more clearly!

The details that change the experience
Thoughtful eye care is not just about what we test. It is how closely we listen, how clearly we explain, and how carefully we follow through.
You leave knowing what we found
Dr. Mai reviews your results with you in plain language, so you understand what is healthy, what has changed, and what—if anything—needs attention next.
Your prescription and eyewear are treated as one decision
Your exam does not end when the prescription is written. We consider how you work, drive, read, use screens, and wear your glasses before recommending lenses or frames.
Your care does not restart at every visit
Because you continue seeing the same doctor and optician, changes in your vision, eye health, prescription, and eyewear can be evaluated in context—not as isolated appointments.
