When eye care becomes medical care
Medi-Cal vision benefits generally cover routine eye care. However, visits for conditions such as diabetes, red eyes, eye injuries, infections, or sudden changes in vision are considered medical eye care rather than routine vision care.
In Orange County, these visits are typically handled through the medical portion of your health plan, not your routine vision benefit. Our team will help explain how your visit is being billed and let you know about any expected costs whenever possible.
If you need ongoing care that is not covered by your plan, our $119 annual membership may help reduce the cost of eligible visits and services throughout the year.

Medi-Cal questions
Yes, for eligible patients. Medi-Cal may include an eyewear benefit, although frame and lens options can be limited. Our team will show you what is covered and explain any upgrade options before you choose your glasses.
